Making cake toppers fun

For ARTE Souq Timesquare, Dubai, this coming February 8, I want to display more options for cake toppers. The most recent one I finished is this couple who apparently just fell down. In my mind the groom slipped when he stepped on the cake and they both fell, huge expressions of surprise on both their faces. I just love it when humor and action are injected in the usual traditional ceremonies. My hubby and I had a small civil wedding in Cyprus so we did not go the traditional route but if we did go the way of multi-layer chiffon with white unblemished fondant - I would have loved it if it had a likeness of us in our wedding formals doing something funny. It's not too late, we can always do it in one of our anniversaries, so I'm already racking my brains for the perfect fit.

Another cake topper I finished is a themed one, for Harry Potter fans (which can be customized to any theme - Star Wars, Shrek, etc). The great love that built over the years, through friendship, rivalry, war and magic - that of Ron and Hermione. This cake topper sample shows them both standing in the same action-packed stance, wands-a-ready, and flicking it off to some unseen, yet happy, object.

Of course, I can't forget the traditional route. So here I have a lovely couple, just waiting for the ceremony to start. The bride has a lovely violet bouquet, a silver tiara and silver trimmings on her gown while the groom looks on, standing proud in his tux, silver tie, and matching violet corsage.

ARTE Dec 14

I was supposed to be at ARTE this Friday at Timesquare, unfortunately, I will not be able to make it. So instead, I've rebooked for December 14, also at Timesquare.

But please do go to check it out. Tons of creative people at work to offer your creative and unique items. :) Happy shopping and happy crafting!

Camels & Christmas

Happy Halloween!

The rest of the world is still celebrating Halloween but for us it was last night. And instead of scaring ourselves, hubby and I decided to laugh the night away at the premiere of Here Comes The Boom. Quite a funny and uplifting movie, thoroughly enjoyed it.

That was our treat to ourselves, the major break in our last two days' mad rush to finish work.   I've been creating new items for tomorrow's ARTE Souq Ikea. Been working mostly on some Christmas tree decorations - I have some pretty cute Christmas camels that will be charming your socks off.

Here's a preview of the Gingerbread men. Bet you would recognize this fellow here. Each piece will come with a red silk ribbon to make your Christmas tree more merry.

Hope to see you tomorrow at ARTE Souq Ikea!

ARTE Souq Timesquare Yesterday

Was at ARTE Souq Time Square yesterday - tons of fun talking to people interested in my clay line and learning from the other vendors. A huge thank you to my friends Ena and Lucy for keeping me company, and to all friends who dropped by. :) Thank you!

If you want to see my work, please drop by ARTE Ikea on Nov 2 or ARTE Time Square on Nov 9
It was only my second time with ARTE - the first one was last year around Ramadan. Back then, my neighbor vendor was another Filipina who sold jewelery. She started it as a hobby after she quit her job and got married. One of her husband's friends recommended her to ARTE and she had been with them ever since. After a few months (or was it a year?) she opened a small stall in Ibn Battuta mall. Quite a feat and inspiration.

So, here's to hoping that I go the same way with my new clay line. I have zombies, angels, and UAE-inspired clay work. The good news is, I also got custom order for a Star Wars set and two custom order to make likeness of people but in the same style of my current clay collectibles. There was also a client who wanted to discuss character development. So it's all good.
These little darlings are now available at Etsy. My shop name is www.etsy.com/shop/OrangeJarArt

I've also added the clay collectible products to my newly opened Etsy shop, so please stop by to visit. My Etsy address is www.etsy/shop/orangejarart. It's OrangeJarArt. Unfortunately, there was already another vendor with the shop name "Orangejar" so I couldn't get it and I did not want to change my shop name because this has been my shop name for years! Anyway, just please remember to add "ART" at the end of "OrangeJar" to find my Etsy shop. Thanks and see you there!

ARTE Time Square on Oct 12

OrangeJar is joining ARTE this October 12 at Time Square from 12 noon to 7pm. We hope you can join us! It's only our second time with ARTE so we're pretty excited.

ARTE is also holding a competition for the artisans' posters. Most liked gets free stations next year - please support our poster and LIKE it in FB. Just click here and it will take you directly to the poster.

Thanks and see you there!
