Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year

I still can't believe another year has come and gone. It's Christmas again - so many things have changed in my life and I look forward to next year with excitement, because I know so many more things will change.

And with every Christmas and New Year that comes, I wish and pray for love, peace and prosperity for all!

Happy 41st National Day UAE!

In celebration of the 41st National Day of the UAE (which will be on December 2, 2012), I created this FB banner using my Emirati clay art line. Feel free to repost this image compliments of OrangeJar.com.

This banner is already tailored to the FB Timeline Cover Photo so need to adjust once you upload.

Thanks and enjoy the coming holiday!

Eid Mubarak!

I've only had time to do this now, but I hope you can still find them and use them. They are also available on my FB page - just click here if you want to repost the cards from there.

Please feel free to use these Eid Mubarak cards as ecards or print them out and use them as traditional cards to give to your family and friends courtesy of OrangeJar.com.

Note: All copyrights are retained by OrangeJar.com (and the artist - me!) and these designs are for personal use only.

I'm also selling similarly styled cards at my Etsy Shop. Those are generic versions (no event, occasion or ties to holidays) and can be used for any time you want to sent that beloved someone a greeting - be it to greet them the best birthday ever or to just say you miss them so much!

Birthday party Invitation designs

Ugh. Started my day really late! Woke up dreaming that I'm in a world where two separate group of peoples live - and one couldn't breathe well once they are in the other's boundaries.

Still quite muddled from that. But the day is clearing up... thanks to Mount Province Arabica coffee from my friend Lucy!

I have set aside today to paint the Star Wars set. Need to be done today, as they are all to be delivered tomorrow. Luckily, acrylic and the glaze I use dry up really quickly. It's the painting that will take time with all those itty bitty details.

But before I get to that, I just wanted to post about three items on my Etsy shop - invitation designs for birthdays and other parties. They are available for only 10USD - you get the digital file and you can print it at home or bring it to your printer's. It comes with a complementing Thank You card and four cake topper designs.

All characters are done by OrangeJar and text are customizable. If you want to purchase any of these designs, please send a PayPal payment to orangejar (@) orangejar.com for USD10 and email me the text that needs to go in the card. I will email you proofs for checking and after we've finalized all that, I will send the hi-resolution copy that you can download and print.

More designs to come soon. Thanks for viewing!

Eid Card Contest by 1915

-->

In a move to attract and showcase the region’s creative talents, 1915 by Seddiqi is knocking on the doors of the local community in the UAE to design an Eid greeting card this festive season. The interactive competition for the best design will be presented on 1915’s social media platforms, giving the designers the opportunity to express their creativity. The winning card will be distributed across all the 1915 boutiques and the local design will be featured in the local press.

"With the joyous Eid Al Fitr, we at 1915 have launched a wonderful Eid Card Design Competition which is our way of engaging creative community.  Through this competition, we are fostering the talent in the UAE and giving people a platform to express their artistic talent during this holy occasion," said Hind Seddiqi, Vice President of Marketing, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and spokesperson for 1915.

How it works:
Every participant will post their artwork on 1915 Facebook page where a dedicated application has been designed for the contest. The designers will then have to get their fans to vote for their favourite design(s). The artwork will then be shortlisted according to popularity and creativity, and a panel of judges will select the final winner.

Maisa Al-Qassimi:
Local photographer and personality Maisa Al-Qassimi has been commissioned by 1915 to design a special Eid card for the contest. The photograph of a mosque’s interior that was built by her uncle (insert name here), is the cover image for her Eid card artwork. An acclaimed photographer, artist, and art collector, Al-Qassimi represents a new breed of the nations most progressive and creative talents in the country.

Happy Mother's Day cards

Happy mother's day to all moms out there!

We're pretty sure there are going to be tears in mums' eyes when they read the cards their kids made them.

We couldn't help but say awwwww when we saw the emails kids sent us.

It was hard but we had to pick one winner - and that's Christine, 12 years old, who sent in her card for her Mommy Pearl. We love her use of colorful flower cutouts that frames the front of the card.

Inside, she continued the flower motiff and combined it with illustration - a sweet one of a mom kissing her child and a just as sweet letter. We're sure your mom is going to be so proud of you Christine! Congratulations!

For special prizes, we picked three: IC (12), Tel (9) and Kit (10).

IC used what looks like colorful tin foils which made his card bright and colorful. He also used cutouts from magazines to make his letterings. Very clever! He kept the inside simple which brought your focus to the message immediately, but the borders around the message made it interesting.

Tel emailed saying she also colored the back of the card. That's good design Tel! And she included a very cute picture of her and her mommy on the inside page making it very personal.

Kitkit used a bright yellow paper that added interest to the card and in his letter, he recalled his mom giving him confidence on his first day of school. Awww... we're just wiping tears from our own eyes.

Congratulations kids, good work! Happy Mother's day to your mums and
all the mums out there!

And a special Happy Mother's Day to Amor Mendoza
and Monica de Castro!
